Hello Students, Parents and Friends,
I'd like to start with a great big WELCOME! My name is Randi Tamez and I am so excited to be teaching at Magnolia Junior High School. I am looking forward to a great year working with all of you.
I would like to introduce myself on my home page and give you a little bit of my background. First and foremost I am a wife and mother of two. I am a hometown gal, Magnolia High School class of 2004, and I attended Texas A&M right after graduation. Before completion, I felt the need to follow my family's call to service and I served five years in the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. I have always had a passion for the health and growth of children because I believe that they are our future; therefore, after returning home from the military, I began attending college again and started working as a substitute teacher for Magnolia ISD. This is where I truly found my path as I worked with the wonderful students and staff of MJH. I graduated from the University of Houston-Downtown and was able to follow my heart to my teaching career.
Keeping this introduction as short and sweet as possible, I find myself teaching the subject that I am truly passionate about---English Language Arts and Reading. I know some of you as students may find it challenging and some of you as parents may know that your child has a struggle in this area. Please know that I am here to help you (or your student) every step of the way. I will share my excitement for poetry, reading and writing and hope to spark a flame you did not know was there or fan the flame that already burns.
Dictionary Day Fun! Are the commercials meant to elucidate or obfuscate?
What about the closing argument?
